Awards and Accreditations

As a school we accept that self-praise is no recommendation and seek external validation of our work. We have led the way in gaining a range of national awards, all at the highest level possible, as testimony to the breadth and depth of our achievements and lack of complacency in all we do in and out of the classroom.  In alphabetical order, the main awards are:

ArtsMArk Gold ArtsMark Gold This is the highest award for curricular and extra-curricular art, dance, drama and music.
British Heart Foundation British Heart Foundation - Pupils at Westley are trained each year so that they are able to put someone into the recovery position. We feel that this is a very important skill that could save lives.
The Primary Science Quality Mark is led by the Association for Science Education, the national network of Science Learning Centres and Barnet Local Authority and aims to develop and celebrate the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools. It offers schools the incentive and framework to invest time and effort into developing science; improving the quality of science teaching and learning, extending the breadth and richness of the science curriculum and stimulating teachers’ and children’s excitement in the subject.
National Teaching schools National Teaching Schools are outstanding schools that work with others to provide high-quality training and development to new and experienced school staff. They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system. By March 2016, the goal is to have a network of 600 teaching schools making significant improvements in the quality of teaching, leadership and pupil attainment.
Sports England Sport England - sport is an integral part of life at Westley. Whether it be taking part for fun or competing at the highest level - we aim to cater for all.
Fair Aware Becoming a Fairtrade Active School means joining a worldwide movement where young people learn that they have the power to make a difference in the world. Our school is fully engaged with the principles of Fairtrade and we are actively seeking to extend Fairtrade within our community and area. Students can also learn a range of skills, from teamwork and co-operation to persuasive writing.
