How are pupils doing?
One way to answer this question is to look at attainment, i.e. how many children reach their nationally expected level by the end of Year 2. But first, a word of caution. With a small number of children in a year group the data are sensitive to just a few children who find reading, writing or maths hard. Also, each year is a different set of pupils, so comparing performance between years is not straight forward. If you want to understand how our children perform in more detail, please contact us to arrange a meeting.
In 2016, Tollgate pupils' reading score needed just two more pupils to reach the expected standard in order for the group to match the National average for children at the end of Key Stage 1 (end of Year 2). Our performance in writing, which was well below the National average in 2012, is now at the National average, which shows there has been strong improvements since Tollgate joined the Bury St Edmunds All-Through Trust. In 2016, maths was below the national average, with 3 more pupils needing to have reached the expected standard for this set of pupils to have hit the national average.
